TheftGuard Secures your Virtual Fileserver
![]() |
TheftGuard is a unique Nomadesk feature that protects your data in case your computer is stolen.
Since the documents on your fileserver are locally encrypted, a thief without password won't see these documents. In fact, the virtual drives you use to store your files won't even show up.
But what if the thief has your password? This is where Theftguard comes into play: each dashboard has got a unique TheftGuard id. By reporting a computer stolen (by sending us this unique TheftGuard id), the fileserver data on this particular computer will be removed.
This means that your data will be safe even if a thief has got your computer AND your Nomadesk password.
How can I report a computer stolen?
- Go to www.nomadesk.com
- Log in to your online dashboard
- Click "TheftGuard"
- Select the TheftGuard ID of the stolen computer
- Click "Report Stolen"
What will happen then?
Next time somebody logs in to this dashboard, all data will be removed from the fileservers on that particular computer. Don't worry, the data will only be removed from that computer, the other people or computers you are sharing this fileserver with, will still have access to their data.
So what do I do next?
We always keep a copy of the data on our local servers. So we suggest to go online, change your password and download the NomaDesk dashboard on a new computer. You'll be up and running with an up to date fileserver in no time.
